Third Year!
Kurt started his third year in medical school on the Tuesday after we got back. He actually wears a shirt, tie and white coat most days, but Wednesdays he's on call and gets to wear scrubs. Apparently they're pretty comfy. I admit I'm tempted to steal them for myself. Maybe after he gets a few more pairs...
Garden Update
This is what greeted me when we got back from Utah. We have squash! Already our garden is much improved from last year. We fried up some of the squash last night. It was pretty good. I'm hoping I can get enough squash to make some yummy soup! It's too bad Kurt hates squash...
Here is my row of summer squash plants.
We also have a few tomatoes starting to grow. The only plants that seem to be doing well in my garden are the starters I got from the market. The others got eaten by rabbits. I planted others in their place which are growing now, but I don't know if they were planted early enough.

A Morning with Naomi
This is the Monday after we got back from Utah (the 5th). Naomi walking around in my flip flops, "talking" on the phone.
While I nursing Emma, Naomi decided she wanted to "cook". Yes, that is all spices. She has tried to do this many times since and doesn't understand why I won't let her. But hey, at least she loves to cook.

Getting Home
We flew back from Utah July 3rd so Kurt would be home on time for the beginning of third year. The trip home was uneventful as far as our flights were concerned. In fact, both flights came in early. Kurt and I figured they owed us.
However, waiting for our next flight was somewhat eventful. Emma has seemed eager to move around for a few weeks now. But while I had her lying on the floor, she rolled over and then scooted forward about a foot and a half! I swear to you my children don't know how to sit still. I only caught part of it on video, but I was pretty amazed. Maybe I'll be baby-proofing sooner than I thought! (By the way, in the video, her first scoot isn't until I shift the camera down.)

Day 3--Pirates!
On the third day of the family reunion, we had a "cousins party" hosted by Kurt's mom. Since Kurt's parents and most of my siblings live in the same general area, my family and Kurt's family are well acquainted. Kurt's parents invite my family to parties and their community pool on occasion.
We partied at Pirates, eating pizza and cupcakes (no, I didn't make those, either. Naomi and Nana did).
And games, of course. Naomi loved it as usual. Here is her rebel side.
More of the rebellion. Naomi on a motorcycle.
Kurt and I were never short on people to hold Emma and watch Naomi, which freed us up to play some rounds of air hockey.
After that we had a pool party, then had dinner at Kurt's brother's house (where two of my brothers also happen to live), followed by a movie in the "mancave". Kurt's brother, Jon, has a projector in his basement, which makes for some very great movie watching. Overall it was a great reunion and I can't wait for next time!

Time with Nana
During the reunion, we stayed with Kurt's mom (Nana), since the reunion was local (well, to her house). We did some fun things in the morning before my family got together.
Emma makes a silly face. I can't remember exactly what she was doing here, but I love this expression.
Cute girl.
Nana decided to give Emma a little water. She loved it. Don't worry. She didn't give her very much, but it sure was cute watching her try to grab the glass.

Durland Reunion, Day 2
For the second day of my family reunion, we had a carnival. I was in charge of the Cupcake Walk. But before I take credit for these beauties, I must confess that I had a lot of help from my brother Lyle's girls. In fact, they did all the decorating. :) But they were sure a hit. They were supposed to be just for the kids, but most everyone wanted one! It's a good thing we had extras. :)
I didn't get any pictures of the kids doing the cake walk, but here is Kurt, Naomi, my brother, Greg, and Kurt's sister, Emily, doing the cake walk.

Here is Naomi's tie-dye shirt from the day before, finally dry. She helped briefly with dying the yellow. For some reason Kurt didn't want her to get near the dye.

My sister, Janine, brought the human trampoline.
